About a year ago, I started investing serious time and effort into learning to draw. The cover art for this post was the inaugural piece I used to come out to the world with this shocking new development in my creative life. I've come a long way since then, but I still like it. In the meantime, I've filled about 3 or 4 sketchbooks with pencil practice and made a good-sized stack of finished works in all media: pencil and watercolor on paper, oil and acrylic on canvas, plus some digital painting, which I oddly find quite a bit more challenging than traditional. I'm reading books on art, following tutorials and doing a lot of deliberate practice, but all this is still for fun and I've no plans to ever monetize it. Most of my stuff is fanart and nature studies. I've been posting art diligently on my Tumblr, Twitter and Instagram.
